The leadership of The Cove Church has decided to suspend all in-person church gatherings, in compliance with the new California Public Health policy. Given that this is a global health crisis, we will continue to evaluate for ongoing procedures as circumstances evolve. While the virus is not dangerous for many, it is dangerous for some and is already impacting our world in significant and difficult ways. We want to care for one another, for our neighbors and the vulnerable groups around us (elderly or immunocompromised). We have an opportunity to shine with the love of Jesus as never before by slowing down the transmission rate!
We must not allow our emotions to hold sway over our minds. Rather, we must seek to let the truth of God rule our minds. Our emotions must become subservient to the truth.” ― Jerry Bridges, Trusting God: Even When Life Hurts
We are not responding to the situation in fear, but rather, in love.
2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” In the spirit of this verse, and as we seek to respond wisely as good neighbors, we have decided to cancel our Sunday gatherings and midweek studies(mens and women’s groups too) for at least the next two weeks/weekends (3/15, 3/22)
As we navigate through this situation, we must remember the Church is not a building. The Church is a people empowered by the Spirit of God. Our fellowship with one another, whether by getting together to pray in much smaller groups or over the phone, can continue! PLEASE commit to praying for one another, our families, communities, our leaders and government and the world! We are not to view this as evil winning, or as a political party getting the edge on another. We are to continue to trust in our Great God, loving him, loving others, and supporting one another.
The Cove Church Leadership wants to belabor that if anyone is in need, we are available. We are not on vacation or taking a break. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, asked to self-quarantine, we want to help support you. Whether through prayer, delivering meals, running errands, or meeting financial needs, we want to help however we can. Please email us directly. Your information will be kept confidential. It will only be used to help meet your needs if you have been affected.
We also encourage you to continue to give cheerfully as an act of resistance in a time of fear. Through the practice of radical generosity, Jesus followers reflect the redemptive character of God into a world in need of his forgiveness and healing. You can still give to the church through our website’s online giving or you can mail in checks, or drop off in the church office mail slot.
As always, please let us know if you have any other questions or need any help. You can email pastor Chris at chriswarner@covechurchoc.org or call his cell at 949-677-2025.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Romans 8:31 – If God is for us, who can be against us…
God is WITH us and FOR us!
In Christ,
